Our Home School Community Liaison (H.S.C.L) Coordinator is Claire McNally.

At Our Lady of Mercy Primary School, we believe that children do best when home and school work together. Claire’s role is to support parents and families and to help build strong, positive relationships between home, school and the wider community.

Claire works with parents and guardians in a friendly, supportive and confidential way. A key part of the H.S.C.L role is recognising parents as the primary educators of their children and helping families to feel welcome, connected and involved in school life.

How can Claire Help?

Claire is available to:

• Meet with parents and guardians to offer support, information or a listening ear.
• Help parents to communicate with the school and access appropriate supports.
• Support families at important times of transition, including starting primary school and moving on to post-primary school.
• Organise coffee mornings, courses, classes and workshops for parents.
• Share information about educational, family and community supports.
• Encourage parents to become involved in school life and their children’s learning.
• Build links between our school and local services, organisations and community groups.
• Visit families at home as part of developing positive relationships between home and school.

Parents are Always Welcome

You do not need to have a problem or concern to contact Claire. You may simply have a question, need some information, want to find out about supports available or would like to become more involved in school life.

Throughout the year, Claire will also organise opportunities for parents to meet one another through coffee mornings, courses, workshops and other activities.

Our aim is for every parent and guardian to feel welcome, supported and part of our school community.
